Former Indomitable Lions player and FIFA 1990 World Cup hero, Francois Omam Biyik, was in the Southwest Region where he drilled young footballers on how to become great soccer players.
During his recent trip to the Southwest, Omam Biyik was accompanied by former Indomitable Lions players: Thomas Libih, Emmanuel Bankolo, Patrick Andela Charly, with whom he met with players of Options Sports Academy and Victoria United FC. Before attending a game pitting Victoria United Vs Options Sports Academy, the delegation visited the Limbe Central Veteran Club. There, he shared drinks and also some memories of the FIFA 1990 World Cup especially the Cameroon-Argentina game. They equally took souvenir pictures.
The delegation also watched two Southwest Regional League games that took place at the Limbe Community Field. These are the game between Njalla Quan Sports Academy, NQSA, and Limbe Football Club Association, LIFCA. In this game, LIFCA edged NQSA 1-0. In the second encounter, Victoria United FC aka One People One Power, OPOPO, walloped Options Sports Academy 2-0.
After the games, Omam Biyik drilled the players on how to become great professionals.
“You don’t have to prioritise money. In other words, your principal motivation should not be money. You have to work hard and stay humble and discipline. As a team, you need to be one another’s keeper for you can go far together as a team and not as individuals. You all have great talents to give Southwest Region an Elite club. You are in a region blessed with sports infrastructure. Continue working harder and your dreams will one day be realised,” Omam Biyik advised the young footballers.
Omam Biyik and Thomas Libih are the latest former Indomitable Lions legends invited by Options Sports president, Henry Awantoh Neba. Earlier on, he had invited Jean II Makoun, another Cameroon great.
