Nestlé Cameroon, a subsidiary of the world’s largest food and beverage company, Nestlé S.A, a Swiss multinational food and drink processing conglomerate corporation has bagged two awards in this year’s Corporate Awards, organised by FabAfriq Media Group.
During this year’s Corporate Awards held on Friday, November 19, 2021, Nestlé Cameroon won awards in two categories. It was the 7th edition of the Corporate Awards event which took place in Douala.
The first award won by Nestlé Cameroon, was the Employer of Choice award. Through internal research carried out towards the end of 2021 in Cameroon, the organisers of the Awards said their research revealed that Nestlé Cameroun was the best performing company in that category.
The company’s second award was in the category of health, safety and environment. Here, Nestlé Cameroon was crowned Best Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Company in Cameroon for the year 2021.
The promotion of healthy living is one of Nestlé’s core goals, which it carries out through the provision of nutritive and health-friendly foods and beverages aimed at making consumers in Cameroon and worldwide enjoy the best products that prioritise their wellbeing.
Nestlé has made a global commitment to make its packaging recyclable or reusable by 2025, with a focus on the fight against plastic waste pollution. This is part of the global commitment Nestlé made on December 3, 2020, to achieve Net Zero Emissions by 2050.
“Packaging helps keep our food safe and fresh, but plastic waste in nature is a global challenge that needs to be addressed urgently,” the company had earlier noted at the start of this year.
On a quarterly basis in Cameroon, Nestlé organises waste collection campaigns alongside partners like Namé Recycling who help in recycling the collected waste. Through the exercise, hundreds of tons of waste are collected and recycled each year, to make the environment safe for humanity and the ecological well-being of all that depends on it.
In relation to its fight for a cleaner and safer environment, Robert Helou, General Administrator of Nestlé Cameroon, after the company’s first clean-up and recycling exercise in the first quarter of 2021, had said that: “Nestlé Cameroon is fully aware of its responsibility to preserve the environment and must set an example. We have doubled our target this year to accelerate our contribution to protect our planet and make a difference. We will continue to communicate transparently about our progress to encourage others to join us in significantly reducing plastic waste in our environment.”
The awards in the two categories at the Corporate Awards are expected to serve as an encouragement to Nestlé to continue improving the working conditions of employees and be a force for good in Cameroon for families and communities that depend on it.
