Mobile Telephone Network, MTN Cameroon, has received the “Best Company In Cameroon” award. This was during a ceremony organised in Douala on Friday, November 19, 2021, by FabAfriq Media Group.

FabAfriq Media Group, an internationally renowned communication agency specialised in brand management, declared MTN Cameroon Best Company in Cameroon at this year’s Corporate Awards.

This was during the 7th edition of the Cameroon Corporate Awards that unfolded in Douala last Friday, November 19.  The award resulted from a survey that was conducted on a sample of 57 companies, in all business sectors in Cameroon.

Eight (8) major points were at the centre of the evaluation criteria, notably: a form to fill out answering specific questions; an inspection visit of jury members to companies; general public perception through online voting, employee’s feelings towards companies; the image and reputation of companies; the economic balance sheet of companies, equal pay Men-Women in companies; and Corporate Social Responsibility.

“After a vigorous voting, MTN Cameroon emerged the best company in Cameroon by winning three out of five prizes at stake, notably: Best Employer in Cameroon, Best Customer Service, Best Social Enterprise/Best Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR),” MTN said in a statement.

The award is another feather in the cap of MTN Cameroon.  A few weeks ago, Forbes distinguished MTN GROUP as the first African company in the category of the best employers in the world.

That notwithstanding, MTN has played a major role in the fight against COVID-19. “In terms of CSR, MTN Cameroon has worked alongside public authorities to reduce the impact of the Coronavirus in Cameroon. The company offered the Douala Laquintinie Hospital an oxygen plant, for the effective management of Covid-19 patients in respiratory distress. We have also distributed thousands of health kits like hydro-alcoholic gel, face masks, visors, insulated bags in schools, press companies, orphanages and all vulnerable strata,” the statement furthered.

In the same vein, the statement reiterated that, “MTN Cameroon has offered a free communication fleet to medical staff involved in the fight against the Coronavirus. It has set up the 1st corporate foundation in Cameroon, through which it supports relevant initiatives in the health, educational and community development sectors on daily basis.”

MTN Cameroon has also played a vital role in the domain of human resources management. “The company’s top management has chosen to put people at the centre of its concerns. The attention is paid by our hierarchy to the well-being of employees, respect for the values of equity, equality and the constant search for innovative solutions for the development of employees, are all elements that make MTN outstanding in Cameroon. So, people first!” the statement added.

It further stressed that “In terms of Customer Relationship Management, the company has increased its physical presence throughout the national territory. MTN Cameroon has about 20 direct agencies and nearly a thousand partner-shops scattered throughout the regions”.

MTN Cameroon now has over 10.5 million active subscribers in its network, and it is considered by its officials as the leader in the Cameroon telecommunications market.
