Tiko Town Green Stadium:
Southwest FECAFOOT Bans Fans
By Basil K Mbuye
Southwest regional FECAFOOT Office has banned football fans from entering the Tiko Town Green Stadium until the end of the current season.
The information was made public by the Secretary-General of the Southwest FECAFOOT, Sylvestre Esowe Mwambo, in a press release signed recently.
The decision was taken after the barbaric act that saw central referee, Pascal Ngong, attacked by irate Tiko United FC supporters at halftime.
It reads: “The Secretary-General of the Southwest Regional League of FECAFOOT informs the football-loving population of Tiko Subdivision that following the unfortunate incident that occurred at the Tiko Town Green Stadium during the match Eteki Esoh Memorial Sports Academy (EEMSA) Vs Tiko United FC…spectators have been suspended from watching matches at the Town Green Stadium until the end of the current season…”
Meanwhile, stakeholders criticised the attitude demonstrated by the fans in Tiko in today’s civilised world. Despite the suspension of the fans from the stadium in Tiko, stakeholders demanded further draconian decisions from the Southwest FECAFOOT Homologation and Disciplinary Commission of the league.
Tiko United FC came from behind in the second segment of the game to win the cracker 2-1 against city rivals EEMSA.
This season, a few of such acts have been witnessed in the first round when Victoria United FC technical staff rained insults on the match officials and attempt to assault them. The same was the case in the game Continental FA vs Buea United FC in the first round.
While some observers blame the FECAFOOT for lack of security during match days, others have blamed the fans for failing to be civilised.
